Nanda Devi East Expedition 2013 gets necessary approval from IMF

We are happy to announce that, Nanda Devi East Expedition 2013, has now received letter of approval from the Indian Mountaineering Foundation. One more step ahead. Now we wait for the clearance from the Uttarakhand Government and then the final approval from IMF again.

Surely the bureaucracy we have built around our mountains even are 'Himalayan'! It is very difficult to keep our sense of humor alive sometimes, but once you get used to the slow process ( or, know someone in India who can take care of the paper pushing for your expedition), Indian Himalaya is unbeatable.

It is less crowded. It is more diverse. And above all, there are still plenty of exploration opportunities left.

Cheers!

" Often in recent years people have asked me, 'what is the hardest, most dangerous climb you have ever made?' They expect me to say Everest, but it is not Everest. It is Nanda Devi East. "- Tenzing Norgay, Man of Everest

In May 2013, a very small group of mountaineers from India will make an attempt to reach the summit of a mountain known to the world as Nanda Devi East. Not to prove any point, neither to show off, but to follow the footsteps of generations of pioneer climbers and explorers. A tribute to the spirit of adventure that lives on and continues to inspire.
